Pipe Squealing?

Question:I recently replaced a showerhead/arm in my shower.

Everytime I turn the water on, it makes a very high-pitched "squealing" sound. It could also be described as a whine.

What is this and how can I remedy it?

Answers:
Odd squealing or thumping sounds are generally caused by air trapped in the line. This can be corrected by installing a Water Hammer Arrestor. They're cheap, easy to install and they work.

This is air in the line escaping through the fixture, the line needs to be purged, or you can get an aerator that goes in line before the shower head. Sometimes just running the water for awhile, 20-30 min. will correct the problem.
