Can central air be added to house w/no basement and hwbb system?
Question:house has no crawl or basement, and no duct work. hot water bb heat./radiators. not much attic space
Answers:
any way you go about this it can be expensive...the 3-4 inch duct suggestion is NOT GOOD...that would have to be a hi-velocity system and they can be pricey...if there isn't much attic space i would suggest you go with a 2 or 3 zone ductless split a/c unit...one of the best and most versitile units going is the LG flex-multi...check around for a dealer in your area that carries these and they will give you all the details. these units all use environmentally friendly r410a and are 13seer ...they have many options for the indoor fan/evaporator sections etc etc ...
yes, thru the attic.
Yes if you have an any attic space they can put one in your attic and they will put little holes About 3-4 inches and you would get A/C that way. I'm not sure home much it cost but any local heating and cooling company should be able to give you a quot
yes simple duct work design with a horizontal version air handler in the attic with a return box at the back of the unit connecting to a filter grill in the ceilng of the hall way. Front or supply side has a 2 to 3 foot hard duct to which you connect standard 6 or 8 inch flex duct to carry the air over to round register's located in the ceiling of each room. refrigerant piping is run to nearest end of house n dropped straight down the wall outside to the outdoor unit. make sure they use a secondary or emergency pan bigger then the airhandler underneith it. pricing varies by region but expect to start out at 3 grand and go up quick especial if you need to have an electrical heavy up to your main panel box to accomidate the new units.
