Question:I put my duvet in the washing machine, turned it on...it went funny so I turned it off...now it won't open. How do I get it to open? It has a duvet stuck inside. Please help! My mum won't be too happy with this one...

Maybe there is a helpline number that came with your washing machine owner's manual, you could call the manufacturer and ask them for help. Maybe they could talk you through the process.
Don't feel too bad about bing a kid and shoving a duvet that is too big into the washing machine. We have all done that. I have over filled the washing machine with a duvet as an adult. It sounds like you were trying to do chores and made a mistake.
Also, don't try too much forcing. Ask the helpline for suggestions, but don't try fixing this problem and create a worse one (namely breaking the machine), just wait and let mom assess the situation and determine what to do. That is a mom job. We all have kids that break things and it is our job to pick up the pieces.
Good Luck!
Oh, I just googled and found this info. for you:
Washing machine door won't open-
This is one of the most frustrating faults to get, especially if your clothes are stuck inside the washing machine. Lots of people force the door open out of frustration and cause extra expense. There are many reasons why the door may be jammed shut -
The water hasn't pumped out properly and the washing machine has a pneumatic door safety lock (a rubber hose connected to the door interlock and connected to a pressure chamber bottle on the tub. Water forces air up this tube and locks the door) Washing machine won't empty water
The water has pumped out properly, but a blockage of gunge inside the pressure chamber bottle is trapping the air that's operating the door lock (if a pneumatic lock is fitted - not many have these days due to cost cutting)
Door interlock jammed
Door catch, handle, or mechanism broken
Pecker (a device that detects the motion of the drive belt fitted to many older Hotpoint washing machines which "pecks" at the belt when the door handle or button is operated) is broken or has fallen off
Do not take the lid off and reach inside the washing machine to try and release the door if the washing machine is still plugged in as you will be electrocuted.
Make sure the washing machine is unplugged if you keep messing with it.
Turn it on again and hit pause.
how do you mean funny? It's probably too big...try to turn the dial to the drain or spin cycle and see if it works. If not, just leave it and turn it off. Sometimes they are on a timer and wont open for a while. Dont force it.
Give it a "Fonzy" whack
It is not going to open because the dial is on a wash setting. One thing you can do is move the knob to OFF (or wherever it is on the dial when it completely finishes a load). It should open then.
a Duvet huh?
Whats a duvet ? Anyway, if you have a type of washer that locks the lid, you have to let it finish the cycle and it will unlock itself. Otherwisw you will have to remove the front panel and carefully reach up inside and defeat the lock with a pencil.
Try turning it back on and see if it will open. If it is a front loader, it won't open for safety reasons unless the dial is in the off position. See if you can move the dial after you turn it back on. If not, wait til your Mother gets home and let her figure it out. Good Luck
If the lid has an electric lock then simply unplug it. The lock should release.
