How easy is it to break the glass oven panel?
Question:My sister's teenage son claims he simply slammed the oven door & it broke the glass panel out. The oven is fairly new & well maintained. What is the likely hood of his story being the "whole truth?"

Don't want to get the kid in trouble or anything, but that sounds unlikely. That glass is by no means dainty. You'd really have to slam hard, on purpose like, and that's unlikely because of the hinges - how they have stops to keep the door cracked open. It could easily have been an accident (walking past with a hammer?), but see what happens when you fib? Make him pay, even if it was an accident, that will teach him to be truthful.
The way things are made these days, I'd say it's entirely possible if it were defective in some way.
slamming the door wont break it, for one you have hinges on the oven door, for safety then you have padded insulation around the door. She would have literally taken a spark plug to break it. Seriously. On top of that its double paneled glass.
