What chemicals are necessary to use for a 15' pool?

Question:I have one of those pools with the inflatable rings around it, and I want to keep it up all summer. I have no idea the chemicals that are necessary to keep algae and bacteria out of it.

Answers:
My parent's own an in-ground pool and use chlorine in theirs. Other friends I know use baquacil, it is less harsh on skin and hair, but is more expensive and less powerful.

In a smaller pool like yours I have heard of people buying a cheap $1 bottle of standard bleach and pouring half of it into their pools. This actually made me nervous at first... to think you might bleach your clothes or get it in your eyes. But when you think about it, it's essentially the same thing, a chemical that keeps the bacteria from growing. If the other chemicals were as concentrated as a bottle of bleach they could do the same damage... So be sure to only add 1/2 of a gallon bottle of bleach to a pool your size. Buy a ph tester as well to maintain your pool. It should keep it clean for the summer, and be MUCH cheaper than buying chemicals from a pool store.

Get a 2-way tester which tests your chlorine and ph levels. They aren't expensive at all $5 at Wal Mart if one is near you Home Depot also sells them. Then maintain the levels with chlorine and ph up or ph down. You can purchase the chemicals there too.
