I have a Bissell Clearview Bagless Vaccum Cleaner and I was wondering can I take out the whole canister and?

Question:clean it out cause it got wet long ago and the dirt is caked in-sort of. I want to do it myself without taking it to the repair person. Thanks in advance.

Answers:
I do warranty work repair for Bissell. I think your talking about the upper part of the dirt container. There are two different ways that it could be attached. The earlier models have a latch on the back of machine, right in the middle. If you turn that latch 90 degrees, you'll then be able slide the tank straight out. The other kind is a little more difficult. There is a screw that holds the tank in place on the inside of the machine at the bottom of the tank. Take that screw out, and pull the tank out away from the housing at the bottom, and it will drop out of machine. It's a pretty tight fit. Good Luck. I hope I could help.

I'd trash it. You will have mold in it.
Try using a damp sponge, rinsing it frequently and squeezing most of the soapy water out. As long as you don't get the motor and electronics wet and allow ample time for the unit to dry, I don't see any problems.
find a air compressor with air nozzle take all filters out and vacuum canister out blow everything out be sure to wear eye protection
I, too, havbe a Bissel, and the owners manual said washing was a maintenance chore. I do mine about once a month. All the fiberglass filters and rubber gaskets, too. They are to be air dried.
