What is the proper procudure for sharpening a hand saw?


Question:Much of my work is to small for a circular saw. I have a few old hand saws that were my fathers, but they need sharpening...Help?

A point set, and triangle file, O and practise.
Step one is to make sure all the teeth are the same height,
then set the teeth, then file then 5 to 15 deg depending on the saw (smooth, cross cut or rip)
You need a set-point and a die for this. It's pretty hard to do it by hand, my father used to but it takes a lot of practice without ruining the blade. Practice on used blades first or take them to someone that knows what they're doing.
