Is there really a difference between interior and exterior paint?

Question:The doorwall frame leading onto my deck needs a little paint...i have gloss white bath paint, is it good enough to put on the door trim on the outside?

whats the difference in interior and exterior paint?

Answers:
I know that it is tempting to paint your door frame using what you have, but I strongly advise against it. I have been working with paint for 22 years, and I have spent a large portion of that time settling customer issues. I know that you already have an interior product, but go and spend the $10.00 that it would cost you for the exterior product. It should only take a quart. There is a large difference between them. The exterior product is formulated with a resin that is designed to withstand the ultra violet rays from the sun and resist the moister from rain/snow. There is a different mildewcide In the exterior product (to stop mold growth) The exterior product is designed to expand and contract with the wood surface, the interior product is designed to be hard so it will resist marking and denting. You may get 6 or 8 months out of what you have but you will have to scrape and sand it away in few short months.

Exterior paints have additives to protect against U.V. degradation, mildew inhibitors, and added protection from water. I would go buy a quart of good exterior paint. Never buy cheap exterior paint...unless you enjoy repetition.
There is a difference in the formulation.
the usual difference is in their base: exterior is oil based,
while interior is water based
Ha ha! Same problem here. I used primer on mine and didn't paint and now it is peeling. Would you come paint mine too lol?

No, you need exterior paint.
interior paint will not stand up to weather and climate changes.
