My dishwasher is un-usable and I need advise on...?

Question:My dishwasher was working fine, until it was not being used anymore (because we travel for a living)! I believe the only problem w/ it is "hard water build up"! Is there anything I can do to make it work right again without replacing it. It's really not that old.

Here's a secret we used at Sears when those nice clear glass see through doors on the machines in the stores got yuckee.. Go to store. Buy a jug of CLR. Open dishwasher and insert half of the CLR contents. Cycle dishwasher a while. Look inside...things are nice and clean...pumps work...ta da !

start by cleaning the trap in the bottom of the tub.
I'm avalible if you young, well endowed and very rich I throughly enjoy doing the dishes and then of course you.Lol
It may be "stuck" boil a pot of water and throw that in the bottom, it may work again...I actually had a repair man do this for me before.
Cleaning it out would be a good first step. There are some free tips for that available here:

Also, there is a product designed to help clean the dishwasher called Glisten. It may help also:

So, you turn it on and it doesn't fill with water?

Inside, on the bottom there's a float that stops the filling when there is enough water. Is the float stuck up (or does it just have a high opinion of itself ). Puch on it, wigle it, see what you can do there.

The panel at the toe kick comes off with a few screws. Theres a solenoid valve, has two wires and a hose connected to it. A little WD-40 sprayed on it help? Tap on it, try to figure out how the solenoid moves and see if you can get it unstuck. Get a meter and see if the controls are sending electricity to the solenoid? Wait, did you check the valve under the sink, is the water even on?

If it's filling then, where is the cycle does it fail?
My dishwasher was clogged up and not working one time, it's because the kind of detergent I used to use. The powder kind. After while it hard like a cement. I have to have someone to unclog it. I think as long as your motor is still running, it could be fix. I had to buy me a new one because my motor just shut down recently. If you have to buy a new one, looking for my question about dishwasher. I had a lot of good answers for me. Hope yours can be fix. Horrible without dishwasher when you used to have one.
