Our house is 1000sq, what size central air unit should we use?and whats the difference and means in tons used
Question:we have a 2 ton it isnt cooling as well as we expected when we installed it last year .. its a brand new home . so i think e made a mistake using a 2 ton unit...
Answers:
2 or 2.5 ton is normal for a 1000 square foot home, but I have installed 3 ton a/c in small homes to if you want to be sure you should call a heating, a/c tech out to have the whole system looked at they can size you house based many factors like insulation amount window type and sizes It might also be the size of the fan in the furnace or poorly installed, inadequately sized ductwork also
2 1/2 ton 14+ SEER
You might want to call a service tech out to check over your system to check for leaks in the ducts. IF leaks are found in your system you might want to go after the company that put your system in for fulty work and get them to repair it as it shuold still be under warrenty. It takes one ton per 500sqft so your two ton system should be fine. Plus it is cheaper then getting a 3 ton unit put in. Your indoor coil is not sized to work with a 3 ton system so that will have to be changed out. It is more work and more cost that a person with a system that only two years old needs to deal with. Hope this helps
