Lawn tractor doesn't cut grass evenly.?
Question:It is an old Craftsman, 14 HP and 38" cut. It has always left a stripe that didn't cut, probably 2-3" difference. I have installed a new spindle on one side but it still does it. I have also replaced the belt. Any ideas out there?
Answers:
If there is a strip left that isn't cut at all, it means that the blades aren't long enough to "meet" in the center. You don't actually want them to meet of course but they do need to overlap a bit so there is not uncut strip left in the turns. You can replace spindles until you are blue in the face and it won't do a thing to cure the symptom. The correct blades will.
we cut lawns for a living and the answer to your question is Your DECK ISN'T LEVEL
pull the mower up on a level area(parking pad or something)
measure the height of your deck then you should be able to adjust the float level with a couple of adjustment bolts beneath your mower but above the blade
Sounds like the deck is out of balance and one side is cutting higher than the other. You will have to get it on a flat level concrete spot and try to adjust it so it is level.
Get a John Deere tractor. They are the best!!
