Get you head out first!

There are a couple of different devices you can get for that. You should have them in the house anyway.

One works with water and the new kind works with air. They fit into the drain and build up pressure. When the pressure is strong enough, it blows through the pipes and most always cleans them out.
Try using a plunger. or you can get a product called a Drain King You need the adapter hose and probably a 1'' DRAIN KING. http://www.kk.org/cooltools/archives/000...
If the solutions from the other responses don't work for you, then you are ready for a plumming job. Underneath the sink there is pipe in form of a U with universal locknuts at each end. This is called a U trap and it is there to prevent odors back up. Make sure to empty the whole sink any other way and close all water valves (there are two of them, one cold and another hot). Place an empty bucket under and loosen both locknuts and remove the U gently twisting it until is out. What you going to see inside might not be pleasant so use the bucket if you vomit. Take the U outside and clean with your garden hose and a flexible long brush. Put it back and chek for leaks running the water for some time. Leave your area clean and pick up your tools. Your wife will be happy and you can call yourself a "handyman". If you send a picture, I will send a certificate saying so.
Did you try removing the chunckies from the screen at the bottom of the drain in the sink? If you didn't then just use your fingers to pick them out and throw them in the trash or put them in a baggie for later.
fill the sink about half full take a wet rag and cover the overflow holes in the sink then plumnge the sink. a few quick pushed and a hard pull will probably do it. keep your mouth closed on the pull water sometimes splashes.
