What is the oil capacity of york compressor on a residential unit?
Question:AC has leak at the compressor and before the guy can seal it & charge it back up, he needs to put oil on it- but is unsure of the capacity for our compressor. The manual doesn't list it either.
I've search online and found it for cars (8-10oz) and big rigs (12 ounces) but can't find the info for a residential unit. Anyone got an idea?? I'd really appreciate it-- and if you find it online, please post the link. Thanks in advance! (It's hot here in Louisiana!)

I agree with some of the other guys. You probably should get someone else to look at it. He should know how much oil to add based on the standard compressor size. In addition, it might not be a York compressor. A lot of York units have compressors made by another company. You can easily find the capacity by checking the compressor itself for a model number and brand- then call the company. They are usually more than happy to tell you what you need to know.
I hope you get the AC fixed, I know it can get hot in the south. This time of year those AC guys aren't cheap either... on average they are charging $75 an hr w/ a 2 hr min. So be ready to pay for the cool air.
You need to find another guy that knows what he is doing.
you better get another estimate. how much is all this supposed to cost?
he should know how many ounces it takes,or he does not know what he is doing that's his job,all he has to do is call york corporation and give them the model and serial number and capacity of compressor and they Will tell him,i would not let that guy work on my ac .
