How to sharpen a knife?

Question:We want to sharpen our kitchen knives using the tubular instrument that came with the knives and we're not sure how to do it. Can anyone help?

Answers:
Scrape the blade of the knife down the tool twist you wrist and scrape the other side of the blade back up the tool. Repeat moving the knife so different parts of the blade are being scraped so it sharpens all the way up.

When I was young we didnt have a tool and scraped the knife on the back doorstep to sharpen it.

Lol, Omg!
you run the blade on a 45degree angle up and down the tube until it gets a nice shine and then try and cut something if it wont cut keep going
hold the steel(tubular instrument) in one hand & a knife in the other hand & move the knife away from you on the top of the steel at a 20% angle with the sharp end of the knife towards you then repeat with the knife under the steel repeat about 5 times
the tubular instrument you mentioned is called a steel it is used to keep an edge on a already sharp knife the easiest way to sharpen a knife is to buy a knife sharpener duh. the one that has two carbide sharpeners and you draw the blade through it. every time the blade gets dull just use this sharpener a few strokes that's all it takes and take the steel wrap it up and give to a friend.
