Please help with my window air conditioner...?

Question:The circuit keeps "flipping" when I run my window ac. Can I buy another "circuit" that holds more amps or should I just call an electrician?

Answers:
No it is not safe just to put the next size circuit breaker in as this will cause the wire to overheat because of the overloading of the circuit..what you need to do is remove some of the other things that are using this circuit.or have the wire upgarded to the next size from the breaker box all the way to the plugin the ac is using ...then it would be safe to upgrade to the next size circuit breaker..

You may have too many things running on that one circuit.
I'd call in electrician...unless you KNOW what you're doing...better to NOT burn the house down.
You should be safe and be smart. Call a electrician to be safe. Their could be bigger and more dangerous problems.
You can buy another breaker rated the same. They do get weak and pop easily. Don't put in a bigger one you could overload the wiring. I am assuming that you know how to replace the breaker? Like turning the power off first - all the power. If you don't - call an electrician.
What else do you lose when the breaker goes? Do you have too many things plugged into the same circuit?

The next time it trips, feel the power cord to the A/C unit. If it's hot, the unit may be drawing too much current. If it's not (and you don't have the circuit overloaded), it may be that the breaker itself is going bad. They're cheap, but it may cost you a little to have it changed out.

Good luck, and stay cool!
DON'T try to "add more amps" to your circuit, that's dangerous as every device in the circuit is probably only rated for 15A. You could start a fire if, for instance, you were to put in a 20A breaker.

I ran into this problem myself. So I added an outlet from a different circuit that didn't have any other big loads on it. If you can't do this yourself then yes, you need to call an electrician. It shouldn't take a good one more than an hour or so, depending on where the nearest unloaded circuit is in the room.
the breaker trips, either because it is drawing more current, than the circuit breaker can handle, or it may have a problem.

Good bet that the wire behind the wall, goint to your plug, has to be up graded to the next size or two. Call your electrician.

Tell him, that the wireing to that plug, has to handle 15 amperes or better
