Dripping faucet?
Question:What is the best way to stop a bathroom faucet from dripping?
Answers:
Shut off water to faucet-both hot and cold
Proceed to dismantle the faucet hot and cold
take valve stems to hardware store and size up o rings
Reassemble faucet in reverse of way you took apart
Turn on water first hot or cold then the other
Drip fixed
Install a new one.
turn your water off (usually under the sink) remove the faucet handle, and then remove the insides.change the 'o' ring and maybe the 'seat', one or both maybe corroded or just wore out...it is an easy job to do.
If it is a double handled faucet, it is probably a bad washer in the stem. If single handle, it is most likely bad parts in the cartridge (O rings). Both can be easily replaced DIY.
If your faucet is not very old, it could be that it's one of those brands that have a lifetime warranty. Replace it. If it's an older one and has rubber washers inside, you can remove the handles and the valves and replace the washers.
It is easier to replace the faucet than the washers.
Change the washer on the stem, Or if you have wanted a new faucet, Now would be the time to replace it.
