Should my Simplicity Window Unit Air conditioner be dripping or not?

Question:I bought a 5200 BTU Simplicity A/C(by danby) from Canadian tire. For the first 3 days it worked fine and it dripped a LOT. Then it began to make this sputtering noise, and stopped dripping. When I looked inside there was tons of water, but it was no longer dripping. The noise is loud, sputtering, rattling and the other people in my building are not amused. I've read other threads that say yes it should drip, others that say no it should not because it keeps the unit cool.I cannot see how this is possible because its so loud. We took the unit out of the window and tilted it really far back, and it SPILLED water from where the fins are. But its impossible to tilt the unit that much in the window. There are no other significant drain holes that I see. Please let me know your thoughts.
Its 45 with the humidex here today, help!

Answers:
The above answer is correct, all air conditions work my cooling air, but they also dehumidify the air that passes thought them. There should be a drain hole in the back of the unit, for some reason recently they moved these holes to that back of the units instead of putting them on the bottom.

I have several rental units that use window units and I have greatly improved them, by removing the unit from the case that fits in the window and drilling a 1/2 inch hole in the bottom of the case, near the back and then making sure that the back of the window unit was a 1/2 lower than the front of the unit.

Sounds like the drain became clogged.

Yes, a window air conditioner will drip water out of the back of it -- at least it should if the drain is clean. In fact, any air condition coil will condense moisture on it, and it will need to be drained away. Central air systems do this by placing a tray under the coils, with a drain tube (usually runs thru the floor), automotive air conditioners also drip water, and when their tubes get clogged, the trapped moisture often leads to a very foul smelling mildew.

Window units are tilted to the rear to help facilitate this draining. Look the unit over, and clean out the drain (it is probably just a simple hole in the bottom of the unit, not very large)

Good Luck
It dripped at first because the humidity was high. Now that it's lower the pan under the blade is handling it. Picks the water up and throws it against the condenser coil. It's working fine.
