I spilled acetone nail polish remover on my new bedroom set footboard. Any ideas as how to repair this?

The aceton has attacked the finish -- acting as a stripping agent. You will need to have the piece refinished. I use acetone on a regular basis to remove paint, varnishes, and lacquers, even polyurethanes...it is very effective. Just making one swipe with an acetone soaked rag across a piece of painted wood, will cause the paint to wrinkle overnight. Sorry to tell you, but the damage is done, and you will need to have the piece repaired professionally. Try contacting a furniture store, and see if their repair technician can handle this for you... if not, then you will need to contact a restorer/refinisher.

Good Luck

i would put furniture polish on it right away it might help
Since this happens all the time, professional refinishers have to repair it all the time. Don't worry, it ain't hard.
