What do i switch the pump on a pool to vacum it, just got a new pool and no instructions on what to do?

Question:

Answers:
To vacuum the pool you have to
1. Attach the vacuum and hose to the pole.
2. Place the pole and hose in the water and put the hose up to the opening that shoots the water out. Keep the hose up t the opening until all the water is out of the hose.
3. Keeping the hose underwater careful not to get air into the hose, walk over to the skimmer basket (where the water is taken in). Take the piece off the skimmer that holds the dirt in the skimmer (the piece rocks back and forth at the opening of the skimmer)
4. Now, on some pools you have to take out the skimmer basket and some pools you don't. Look to see if the piece that attaches the hose to the skimmer fits over the skimmer basket, if it doesn't then you'll have to take out the basket.
5. Quickly attach the hose to the skimmer now.
6. If any air got into the filter you'll have to quickly turn the knob on the filter to get it out.

You didn't say what kind of vacuum or pool. Most above ground pools use a wand with a hose attached. There is a round piece of plastic with a "neck" on it that connects the hose to it. You then set the plastic piece into the skimmer basket while vacuuming. The filter stays on the same setting as normal while doing this. When finished, remove the hose and plastic piece and turn the filter to flush. This cleans the dirt you picked up out of the filter. Hope this helps.
