How can I save on my electricity bill?
Question:This might sound like a silly question, but I want to save on my electricity bill. I open my curtains to use the daylight, but the sun shining in just makes it hot and I think it's defeating the purpose, by making my a/c work harder. What should I do?

and here's a biggie: if you have an electric water heater...get a timer on it. I run mine for about 5 hrs a day and the water stays really hot even when it's off.
Use your dryer sparingly. Hang dry stuff that doesn't matter like underwear, socks etc. Fluff them dry to soften them up.

Close the curtains on the sunny side. Use fluorescent lamps whenever possible. Turn off appliances which are not in use.
only you can save ur electricity with ur own self . if u ar not in the room you should keep light of and if u r in any where in ur home so u should keep fans /many thing keep off if ur not there or if this is not use full 4 u. and taking care with use of electricity and dont waste it.
renting or owning? if renting I'd keep the curtains closed as much as possible during daylight and limit the AC use as much as you can, dress less and use a lot of ice cubes instead!
if owning I'd look into weatherstripping the existing windows or (if you're going to be living there for a couple years) installing coated double-paned vinyl windows, and making sure your attic insultation is rated high - R-19-24 I believe.

Here's what i did last mount and result was unbelievable .
1- Till noon I leave 2 window open 1 in one side and 1 in other side of home air circulation is amazing.
2- Change all bobbles to low watt (fluorescent) lights.
3- keep closed all doors and windows after 1.00pm and set A/C in 70*F till 7.00pm
4-Again open those two window till morning .
My bill from $127.00 change to $56.00 dollars this mount.
Here is a PROVEN solution for you.. Get ahold of a super strong neodymium rare earth magnet and attach it to your electric meter. You can buy them on eBay. The magnet should be 2"x1/2" and not less in size than that . Fiddle around with it for the correct position underneath it. It will stop the meter dead cold!. Just make sure you do not get cought when the meter man comes reading the meter and finds it there. Doing this is of course illegal and is called theft of electricity, subject to a hefty fine and cut-off of power...
