Furnace fan does not work in air conditioner mode?

Question:The fan works in the heat mode, but not in the cooling mode. The fan on the outside unit runs.

I have a 4 wire unit:

W
RH with a jumper to RC

The thermostat may be defective. Most thermostats have a separate switch which turns on the fan; if yours does, flip it and see what happens. If the fan runs, the fan system is okay and you can either just leave the switch on or consider replacing the thermostat.

Are you sure the fan isn*t working at all and not just in the off position when you hear it? On both air and heat the fan on the furnace kicks on and off at different times without turning on the air. Sounds like a thermo stat problem to me.
Check your indoor fan relay, if you know anything about electrical, check the schematic on your unit and trace out the wiring, your "IFR" is probably the problem.
