Sound a bit odd, but if the switch gets hot, there is a loose connection and the switch is burning out. (heating up - breaking contact, then cooling and connecting again) You need to replace the switch with a new 45amp DP. type and then try the shower again, you may have two faults, but probably just the switch.

Showers, like most electrical things these days are not economical to try and repair.Get a basic one from somewhere like B&Q.
The box gets hot? The hot water heating element seems to be bad. most likely shorted to an extent. Get a new one or call an electrician.
1. Over heating isolating switch. You may have a loose connection within the switch that would generate heat and give an intermittent fault coursing the circuit to fail.
2. The electrical circuit wiring is not up to the job as most electrical shower units use 7.5kw.
3. As the bathroom/shower areas are one of the most important for safety I would recommend you have it checked out by a qualified electrician.

Good luck.
sounds like the thermal coupling is cutting out due to over heating, As you don't want the best advice i wont give you it, you just carry on showering until you get electrocuted, your life mate.
Its the thermal link which causes your shower to cut out, but if your isolater is getting hot you need to stop using it -Overloading will only cause damage to your existing wiring.
Try this,
Turn off shower at fuse box.
Remove isolater/pull switch cover.
Check connections are tight.
Refit cover and turn on at fuse box
Check you have full (normal) water pressure.
Try running shower.
If it works then great, if not your shower is ready for the bin. Any electrical appliance over 3 year old is not worth fixing.

ONLY TRY THE ABOVE STEPS IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT
If you get it wrong a 10mm cable with a 45a fuse is going to make a real mess of you. Call a sparky if your not sure.
As it sounds like an electrical fault...I would agree with any of the above answers.
If it was low pressure causing the fault , I'd say clean the filter in the shower, if that failed...buy a new shower.
