Question:It's like this one:

Oxyfuel takes a long time to warm up the beam and the finish is awful.

Any suggestions to make this cut?

The beam is not under load, the cut is needed to make it fit in the room where it will be welded.

Answers:
motorized saw

band saw with oil..

Or cut off wheel in a chop saw...
I have cut allot of metal beams with a sawsall. Don't push the blade, and it will cut straight. Don't run the blade to fast or it will burn off the teeth.
I purchased a cutting torch, oxy-acetylene rig that works great.
Ideally, a horizontal bandsaw or a portable bandsaw. But, chances are you don't have one laying around, am I right? You might see about renting a portable bandsaw at a local tool rental shop, but I don't know that it would be worth it.

I think oxyfuel is your best bet. Cut it a tad longer than you need, and you can always go back with a grinder to smooth it out to how you desire.
Reciprocating saw would be the best bet if you don't have oxy-acetylene torch
Oxygen Acetylene will do the job fast and clean if you use the right torch and have someone who knows how to operate it. It sounds like you need a bigger cutting tip than the one you tried before.
the oxyacetylene torch should cut any steel, perhaps you don't know how to use it,or you are using a small one,ask someone who does welding.
