depending on whether or not you can get the same unit that uses the same freon...I replace these for 350 dollars plus parts...filter dryer liquid and suction line...silver solder and torch gas...if you have to have a new a-coil and line set the price will be substantially higher
I had a, what I thought was fair, a price of $500 to install a two and a half ton unit.
I dont assume its any more work, Just a bigger unit....
That depends on what all needs to be done. Are you replacing an existing unit or will the contractor need to run new wiring, lineset, ductwork, etc?
To just install a 5 ton condenser in place of an old one will probably not cost too much. It should just take a couple of hours. A lot depends on your local hourly rate.
