Can you just buy faucet handles without buying the faucet?

Question:I have a really old faucet in my bathroom that needs replaced, because one of the handles is broken, and is a 6" center set instead of the standard 4", and I can't find anything. So I guess until I get a new sink, all I can do is change the handles. Hopefully I can.

Answers:
yes you can. take along one of the old ones with you though to make sure they are the same diameter

Try this site...or there are many more. Just search Yahoo under "old fashioned faucet handles" or "vintage faucet handles." Hope this helps.
they make handles that will fit any kind of faucet but you will have to get them at a plumbing supply house that carries repair parts.
