Low hot water pressure?
Question:My hot water pressure is low to the point of almost a trickle. What can cause this? And how do I fix it.
Answers:
depending on where it is - often simply removing the handle and hot water stem and cleaning will do the trick. Simply shut off water under sink, remove handle, remove stem (typically with an adjustable wrench) Turn water back on for a brief moment and watch to see if any debris come out. Pretty much the same with a tub faucet. The problem is usually at the faucet. If that doesn't do it the pipes may be clogged; Turn off water supply to water heater. Turn off supply to tub (sometimes in wall behind faucets, sometimes with valves attached to faucet body in wall, sometimes you may need to turn off house supply) remove both stems from tub faucet and
using fittings from hardware store and a short piece of garden hose, attach one end to where faucet stem for cold was and the other to where the hot was. Turn on cold water and allow to flush for half hour. This is known as back flushing and if you have average mechanical capabilities you can do this.
Check all your valves, it sounds like one is particle closed.
If you have good hot water presure i the tub but not the bath room sink it could be the prescreen it cloggged ( where the water comes out is a screen, twist off and clean)
