Weed eater line won't feed correctly?
Question:I have a new weed eater that I have only used 5 or 6 times. At first every thing worked fine, but now it not feeding when I tap on the end while cutting. I don't thing I'm winding the line too tight either. Anyone have any suggestions?
Answers:
Sometimes when the new line is put on the spool, the line somehow doesn't always wind in a way that it will release when a person taps the head. Turn the head of the weed eater so you can push the knob used to tap the line out, and see if new line is release when you turn the unit by hand that has the new line. If nothing is released, you will have to rewind the line on the spool. Look for the arrow showing the direction for the line you are rewinding. I use the heavy line on my weed eaters so I have had to rewind the line head a few times.
check if the wire is in correctly
If you installed new linw yourself make sure you wound it on spool in the proper direction. If wound right ,press on end with motor off and pull hard on line ,it may have overlapped and need help unspooling. Third point is make sure your not at end of line winding, and need new line...hope this helps ..George
What you can do is press the cap down manually and pull the string out yourself manually to check if it's jamming.
This happens allot on most brand tap models. The cutting line should be winded snug fit, but not tight,
Wind it in a clockwise direction.
You should be okay after this if not then disassemble the head and check it out for trash or dirt that could be jamming the spool.
take it to the place you bought it and tell them what you told us. you might have to swallow your pride a little.
