220 v air conditioner?

Question:12000 btu ac.- nameplate says it 6.7 amps. at 220v
does that mean each leg of 220v draws 6.7 amps or does it mean total amp draw is 6.7?

Answers:
that would be 6.7 amps per leg. this would also be the total amp load ..you do not add these together...a 15 amp breaker is all you need with this unit

Each leg, the rating is used to size the conductors and are rated for each wire.
That should be your total amp draw per phase. Wire it with #12 ga. and but it on a 20 amp 220v breaker. You will be just fine.
