Hi thare i have just got a new coal fire put in my house and the glass doors keep smokeing up any one help?
Question:any one know anything to put on them thanks
Answers:
dont worry about it its called smoke even smokeless coal creates a small amount of smoke
best thing to clean is brillo pads dont worry they dont damage the glass, I use them on mine. but try nylon scourers first as they far more gentle any household cleaner ( cif ,cillit bang etc) will clean try not using powders though
and clean regular to prevent build up which is harder to remove
If the doors are smoking up - what's it doing to your lungs?? I assume by glass doors you mean internal room doors, not a door on a coal burning stove? I think there's some solution you can buy which stops condensation on glass, but don't know about smoke. Sounds like you need to get some decent ventilation or air extraction unit. Have you had your chimney swept recently?
we had one we let the fire get going then opened the door and cleaned the glass with wire wool
are you using the right coal ? get back to the people who installed it as soon as possible
Hi stu, sorry cant help get back in touch with builder.but what ever you do please don't use the wire wool. hope this helps
My bro has a pellet stove and I had a fireplace incert for years. The doors always got sooty. I would put some oven cleaner on a wad of papertowels and clean it. Check the builder of your stove and see if there is a fan or damper issue.
sounds like you have a charnwood solid fuel stove or similar , the normal cause is the top plate inside the stove is not at the correct setting for the fuel used , check your user guide / instructions , theres usually 3 settings top, middle and bottom depending on fuel used , coal , logs or anthracite.although you will never stop it smoking up completely it will help .
just switch to smokeless fuel and clean the glass when its cold
Check your flue system .It may not be set to your chimney design.
