What is the best way to soundproof a room beneath the carpet?
Question:I've heard there are foam pads, there aren't any foam pads, I need a second subfloor.etc.
Any ideas?
Thanks alot.
Answers:
to sound proof you need to do two things, decouple and insulate. you could build a raised floor on foam pad for this purpose.
thicker carpet can do some heavy soundproofing throughout all your home. Plus if your room downstairs hasn't been finished, you can run soud dampening channels along the floor joist and hang your sheet rock from that. It really works.
Cardboard ,industrial strenght as your liner ,then, rubber underfelt ,then carpet. If your still paranoid,Thick Shag pile. no worries..
