replace the supply valve
A faulty valve?
I think you need a new valve..
the valve isnt closing. replace it.
Sounds like the valve to me. A good way to check it is to turn the valve off and then kneel down to listen directly at the valve or you can take a yardstick or broom handle and place it on the valve and then put your ear to the stick and listen for a faint hissing noise.. If that doesn't satisfy your dilemma, you can always turn the valve off and place a bucket or small container under the valve and remove the hose that is attached to it.. If it is leaking at the rate you say it is then, you shouldn't have any trouble with what little is coming out of it and you will be able to reattach the hose with no problem. If your valve is the culprit then I suggest that when you replace it , you also replace your float control, flapper and flush handle and chain as well. ALL DONE!! "Don't forget to turn the main water supply off to the toilet before removing the valve itseslf.. either through the main shutoff outside or even through a shut off located in the house after the outside main.. And make sure you turn your faucet on to relieve any pressure and to be sure the water is actually turned off.. Also depending on if you are two story or basement or single floor house plays a part in all of this as well.. You can get any other answers you may need about this at the hardware store of your choosing or you can hire a Lawyer to do it for you.. Goodluck! Ohh and just for the record- there are a couple of different sized valves and hoses , so you may want to have that ready before going back and forth trying to get it right the first time. So you will be needing the Anglestop-supply line-flapper-flush handle-and float control..Bye
your valve is defective depending on the type of valve you might need a new washer or new valve.
