Drainage Problem - Shower/Toilet/and washing machine!?

Question:All of a sudden my shower, toilet and washing machine...in the same room...are all backed up! What are some things I should check or do? Thanks!

Answers:
My in-laws place gets this problem. Even their kitchen sink gets backed up. Don't flush or use any more water, as it has no where to go.

Since your problem is simultaneous, it seems you will have to unclog the main sewage pipe using a "sewer snake". If you don't know what this is nor have the tool to do it yourself, you may have to hire a plumber.

These plumbing "snakes" are inserted into the pipes, they move in a circular motion to clear out / or break up the blockage. Best to have a pro look into it because the blockage may extend further than you have the tools to handle.

Good luck!

If your on a septic tank, you may need to get it pumped. If your on City sewer I don't know what you would do. Hope this helps
do you have a sewer or septic?

septic can be backed up, or sewer can be full.

your kid might have dropped some thing in the toilet or sink

~ go to the dollar store and buy Drano, if that dont work then call a plumber.
If you have a septic tank it could be full and it needs to be emptied. If you don't have a septic tank then you may have an obstruction in the pipes, you may need to have your pipes snaked.
Sounds like all the fixtures are on the same drain, Problem is lint fron the washer collects with soap from the shower. The blockage is most likely at the point where the drain line for these fixtures connect to the large house drain. If you can get at that area, and there is a cleanout you can open the drain and push a flexable snake in to clear it. If that is not the case then you have to rent an electric snake and pass into the drain from the shower or the washer connection, or even take the toilet off the floor and go from there. Forget liquid drain cleaner, to late for that
Hubby says think of septic lines to house as tree branches going to trunk of tree (trunk is final pipe into septic system). Use process of elimination to find what is draining/not draining. Clog is more than likely between the trunk and branch that toilet/shower/washer is on--probably foreign object such as toy or possibly hair/toilet paper. Try Drano or Liquid Plumber first in area that flows more freely right now in that area--where washer drains, sink, tub. You'll probably have to get the Drano/Liquid Plumber that works in standing water. If that doesn't work, try a plumbing snake or call a plumber.
If you have a septic-have it pumped and the lines checkecked for clogs. If in city you should clear washer drain, toilet drain and most likely main serer line.
