I'm looking to buy a weedeater on ebay and I'm wondering what exactly does "reconditioned" means?

Question:I see alot of great deals and they say they've tested it and it works perfect. But alot of them say they've been reconditioned. I just want to make sure I'm not buying something that I might have problems with later.

Answers:
Reconditioned means that some of the parts which might have been worn have now been replaced. Might have also had a new coat of paint. You should ask the seller exactly what has been reconditioned/replaced before you buy!

Good Luck!

Reconditioned means something that was bought new and didn*t work so it was returned to the factory, fixed, and resold again. In other words kind of like used, but not used.
It was tried out by only one person, then fixed.I*ve bought several reconditioned things and they always performed ok.
If it's a gas-powered weed whacker then it means that it has been serviced, ie, they've changed whatever needs to be changed and has been given a tune-up. If it's an electric one, I doubt thereis much that can be done to "recondition" it.
RECONDITIONED PER WEBSTERS: 1 : to restore to good condition (as by replacing parts).

Reconditioned "weed wackers" were purchased new at one point in time and did not work properly, in turn returned manufacturer for repairs and resold. You will be taking a chance buying any lawn and garden equipment from someone who is NOT a professional or Dealer of such equipment, including Home Depot and Lowe's. These places DO NOT specialize in such items. Get one from a local dealer.
I would buy a new one as they are fairly inexpensive and a lot of the come with a 2 year warranty. The reconditioned ones may work fine but you may not get any warranty. The shipping costs can sometimes add a lot to the price. I have bought a lot of items off ebay and have got some good deals but for items like this I buy locally.
Reconditioned generally means it has been overhauled and worn parts replaced with new. However, the definition of "reconditioned" may vary from one seller to the next. I would ask the seller to explain exactly what they mean by the term and what work exactly was done on the particular machine you are interested in. Also, ask who did the work - a quaified technician or just the seller, who may not have any real qualifications. If it wasn't reconditioned by a qualified technician, and proof is available, I would keep on looking.
Hey, where do you live? I have one for sale!
