This may be an easy fix, it may not. I would try to replace the belt myself before calling a pro. Disconnect the hoses, and pull the machine out from the wall, watch out for vinyl floor covering, it will catch the feet and tear. Turn machine so you can get to back and using a nut driver or socket wrench, remove the screws from the back and remove the back. May have to remove hoses too. See if the belt looks worn, remove it from the machine by loosening the motor, that the old belt and the model and serial number to a parts supplier, Sears handles most.
Sounds like it might need a new belt.
Sounds like the bearings or the transmission are on their way out. If it is an old machine, you should consider replacing it with a new one.
maybe you need a new belt!
