What kind of paint should I use?

Question:My basement wall (cement) has water stains on it and I want to paint over them. The problem is that every time I use primer to cover them they come back. I recently had the basement waterproofed with the french drain style on the inside of the basement along with a sump pump. The water stains are only on one wall. Should I paint the the wall with an epoxy paint. Or has anyone used the one part epoxy paint by Behr? Any suggestions would help.

Answers:
use the "DRYLOC" made by UGL, use the oil based as far as behrs one part epoxy, don't waste your money, I've used it in a basement and it didn't do well. Good luck Les the painter

Use Drylock
I have never used a paint product by Behr.. but I did have the same problem as you.. I got rid of the water stains first with one part bleach to 3 parts water.. and scrubbed them off.. wear breathing protection and ventilate while doing this.. Let it air dry and the paint.. I chose latex based..went on really well and covered it all ..
Hope this helps..
Get a professional to do it.
drylock works well ut kilz primer is better
Clean the stains with bleach and water, 50/50 mix. Clean with clear water. Paint over the stains with Kilz or Bin. Use the water base version. Kilz oil based stain killer is too dangeous to use in a basement...fumes and smell.

Let dry for 24 hours. If stains show, repaint with stain killer. Then clean the rest of the wall and paint with waterproofing paint, like UGL.

Kilz, Bin and UGL are available in most paint stores and paint departments in hardware stores.
Use a few layers of primer first, and use one that is specially formulated for moist places. ~
UGL Drylok waterproofing paint comes in either oil based or latex based and can be found in most hardware stores. It will not only cover the stains, but will also waterproof the walls themselves. For more information visit... www.ugl.com
