Excavtion near a house for perimiter drain?

Question:HI, I have to dig the back of the house & side. back is 35 feet & side is 25 feet. The trench will be 3 feet wide x 8 feet deep. A small mini excavatior with 18 inch or 24 inch bucket would work, because of room near fence that is the largest you can use from a rental is renting. Have to come around side of house & work your way out. Just trying to have a ball park figure what it would cost for this. thank you for your time. ( if wondering why i need this becasue the basement leaks very bad & have masons look at & to come to re tar, rain seal & fomular the back wall once excavation is done. thank you.

I agree with the answer by doogie006, but would like to add that the perimeter drain, which is also called a French Drain, and the gravel or rock around it, should all be enclosed in weed control fabric:

This will help keep roots and dirt from getting into the drain. You can use perforated 3" pipe for the drain:

The other thing you can do to prevent having future problems is to cover the waterproofing on the exterior of the basement wall with 1/2" or 1" Styrofoam sheets. The Styrofoam will keep sharp objects like rocks and other debris from pushing a dent into the tar, which could lead to a leak. Styrofoam sheets are available in 48"x96" size.

i would dig a wide enough trench to be able to pressure wash your foundation. clean it good and put the sealer on thick. clean your footing good also and let the sealer collect right where the wall and footing meet that's most likely why your basement leaks. put your drain tile next to the footing below the wall so the water wont collect above the footing. use plenty of nickle to quarter size gravel all around the drain tile so it wont collect with mud
