Electrical: What would cause only one room of the house to lose all electricity?

Question:The house was built in 1976. None of the breakers are tripped. It gave no warning, just suddenly all power in ONLY that room was gone and ALL of it...lights, fan, computer, etc. It is sandwiched between two other rooms (all on an exterior wall). No problems in those rooms or anywhere else in the house. Please detail the solution.

Do you have GFCI outlets?

Look at your outlets and if they have buttons in the middle you have a GFCI. Press the reset button.

Call an electrician. This is too dangerous for a civilian to deal with, and if you delay, you may lose your house.
If you are sure it's not a breaker or fuse, then it's a broken supply wire, but before you do anything, without moving and of the breakers, check the voltage out of each one, a breaker can go bad without tripping, and it's very, very seldom a house of that age would suddenly have a broken wire. Possible, but not a likely cause.
If all of the breakers are in good condition, then you will have to start checking all of the wire connections in all service or plug boxes around the rooms connecting to the one with the problems. This is where many connections take place, but I would bet on the bad breaker.
first double check the breakers, because some breakers do not show if tripped. reset all of them if you do not know which one it is. second it could be a bad breaker or loose connection either one i would recommend an electrician.
Loose connection inside the wall. If it is a bathroom , it is the GFCI breaker. If it is a bedroom there is something in the wall. Try switching off all the breakers to the rooms completely and reseting them...
Everyone is crying GFI.Bet you got a receptacle that has wire stabbed in the back...meaning the clown manufacturer/electrician just thought it was a great idea to stab wires in the back of a receptacle..check those
First, I really would not just look at the breaker for that room. I'd turn it off then back on to be sure it really is on, and not tripped but the handle did not trip all the way over, this is how two of our breakers are. When they trip the handle is like in the middle and it looks like it is on, but if you feel it you can tell you have to turn it off then on to get power to flow again.

If it is not that then this room must be on a series from another point. If power is cut along the series it will cut the power to everything after that point, there could be a switch that this room was tapped from and if that switch was "shut off' then this room will also be shut off.
If it is in series with another device that malfunctioned then that too will cut the power to this room, maybe an outlet that suddenly is not working.
If the room drives from its own power line directly from the panel box then everything in this room must be in a series circuit. If the first device in the series has blown / malfunctioned then the rest of the series is shut off as well.

Make sure there are no switches in other rooms that have no real use and are turned off.
Try to figure out where the room's power is coming from. If its directly off the breaker then it has to be the first outlet / switch in the series that needs replacement.
Primarily check that breaker again.
If not fuse or mcb then it is certainly a short circuiting.you
may please call electrician to help you soonest the better.
