Door Bell Repair?

Question:Door bell stopped working, checked wires at the button, seems ok, what else do I check and how?

Answers:
Take the button out and touch the two wires together. If the doorbell works, get a new button for a couple bucks. If not then probably the transformer. Mine is covered by a woodgrain looking plastic box on the wall in the front hallway.

there is a transformer somewhere that went bad. Sometimes it is in the garage up high on a wall. Sometimes it is in the attic - of older homes. Sometimes in a closet. It looks like some sort of a magnet with small low voltage wires running to it...or it could be the switch
check your electric make sure you are getting 12 volts, the step down transformer might be bad,or you bell.
There is the transformer at the panel box and the breaker it is connected to.
