Is there any way to fix a corroded battery?

Question:I have an electric weed whacker at my house that the blade turns very slow and doesn't cut. I opened it up and there was a corroded battery. There are prongs on the left and right sides of the battery Only one side (the left) was corroded The battery is fairly small but not really small. It is about the size of an average computer game box. The left side is corroded. Both prongs have wires going into them. The left prong is a white wire and the right prong is a red wire.

Answers:
You can try to clean it...just use baking soda and water. maybe a little steel wool , let it dry and see what happens. It may work for a while, but odds are you will need a new battery very soon.

You could pour coke-cola n it but do not allow it to get into the battery. You should remove the wire connections and clean the contact then reassembly it.
