This is probably a stupid question (lockpick)?

Question:i was at lowes the other day and i saw the counter where they made keys, there were keys that havent been cut yet and i was wondering. if you had a key like that would it work on everything. i ask this beacus i keep hearing that all you need to pick a lock is something to push the pins up wit and something to turn it with.

Answers:
No it will not work. The teeth on a key correspond with grooves on the inside of the lock which allow the key to turn and engage the pins. Without the proper teeth the key would not turn.
Actually a little more complicated, but you get the picture!

No, it wouldn't work. It probably wouldn't even fit in the key hole. They usually pick locks with small metal pins that are long and hard. Thank god it's not that easy to unlock doors!! Everyone and anyone's house could be broken into!
No, that wouldn't work. All the pins (tumblers) are of different sizes so that the lock will only fit the key. The key is cut to allow the pins to line up correctly to turn the cylinder.

No...but that is a spooky question. Are you planning a break in ?
actually there is a type of key that would work. Its called a BUMP KEY.

Go to bombshock.com and look up bumpkey or look it up on google. I think you can order one from the itnernet.
