How do I connect my American Flag to its flagpole?

Question:There's the long cord that came with it and that little eagle topper that inserts into the top of the pole, and of course the flag has eyes for the cord at top and bottom, but everything came undone during our recent move. It seems that the complex series of loops and knots not only kept it on the pole but made it behave and wave beautifully in the breeze without getting wrapped around the pole.

Answers:
Run the cord through the top of the pulley, top of the pole, then down, tie the top cord to the top of the flag, the bottom to the bottom of the flag, then run it up, tie it to the bottom tie thingy.
Only fly the flag in the nighttime unless you have a light on it. Don't put the flag up in inclement weather, during storms.
