How much heat (BTU's) does a standard computer give off?
Question:I am looking for a pretty accurate idea of how many btu's a standard desktop computer produces (no monitor) to make sure I provide enough cooling for a computer room that the standard a/c system can not support.
Sources, not guessing, greatly appreciated.
Answers:
I highly recommend the 2005 ASHRAE Fundamentals Handbook as a source to answer your question. They have tables of the btuh loads for all kinds of electrical equipment, including computers. The ASHRAE handbooks are written specifically for the type of question you are asking.
If you don't have access to one I can look it up for you when I get to the office.
The standard system keeps itself cool, regardless of ambient temps, with an internal cooling fan. Just make sure there is ample clearance from other items for the system to breath.
yes you normal a/c will keep the room just right as comp as cooling fans built in some have water coolers
