How do I fix a shower with hot/cold reversed?

Question:We have a shower that has never been used before and just realized that the hot/cold is reversed. It is a single-handle shower that you turn counterclockwise. The OFF position is on the right side, HOT is on the left. The assumption is that just barely turning the handle will get COLD water, turning it all the way to the right will result in HOT water. The inverse is true however. Turning the handle all the way to the left (HOT) leaves nothing but cold water. Turning the handle a fraction will result in hot. I'm no shower expert, but is there an easy fix to this? Thanks!

Answers:
If the shower valve is a cartridge style Moen, then you need to take off the handle- rotate the cartridge 180 degrees- reinstall the handle.

Fish bowl has it right. American Standard is the same. Remember to turn off the water to the house first, then it is about a 10 minute project.
