I need to set my outdoor lantern which has a sensor.?

Question:I have moved into a house with a porch lantern and sensor. It is plugged into a socket in my garage which I disturbed when I plugged in my tumble dryer. I have managed to get the light to work by switching the socket switch on and off 4 times. This make the sensor work but the light only stays on for a few seconds. How do I increase the time? I have no instructions, the previous owners don't know and there are no switches on the lantern. Help me before I go insane.

Answers:
on the under side of the unit there should be 2 little knobs 1 is to set the time it stays on the other is a test switch. It will be trail and error for a while.wish luck.

You need to open up the sensor box, usually 4 screws and you will see the time setting dials inside. These are sometimes adjusted by a screwdriver or dials, you should see a plus and a minus. Turn towards the plus for greater time on. Failing this email me direct with what you see inside and the make and i will try to solve your problem.

If you look underneath the unit there are two adjustment controls.
One is for dusk setting, and shows two images - the sun and the moon. The dial will probably be somewhere in between them. So if you wanted it to come on when it got darker you would turn it more in the direction of the moon (anti -clockwise).
However, you want to set it to fully clockwise for now so that you can test it by walking across the sensor so the light comes on. This allows testing to be carried out.
The other controls the time and has a plus and minus symbol either side.
It is likely your dial is pointing more to the minus sign. So to adjust, move it further towards the plus sign and then it will stay on for longer. With a little trial and error you will get it to stay on for the amount of time you require.
When you are happy with that go back to the other dial and put it back to where it will come on when it gets dark.
Simple really. Best of luck.
