Moss on our front porch, what do we treat the boards with?

Question:We have a wraparound front porch that needs weatherproofing on the bare boards, do we need to remove the moss (just a few areas) and if so, with what? Also, we have a problem with earwig bugs-enviromentally friendly way to get rid of them?

Answers:
sounds like too much moisture and shade is a problem there, try getting some sunlight to it, and lots of fresh air..i would be willing to bet bleach would help kill the moss.i would suggest checking into the reason for too much moisture in the area and check for mold as well. dursban works nicely on earwigs and many other insects and when it is dry is relatively safe for animals and people to go back into area...

Use a power washer to remove the moss and then treat with an agicide.
