Garage door opener light doesn't work.?
Question:I have a Legacy overhead door opener from Overhead Door in a house I just bought. There is a light just in from of the motor overhead. There is a wall pushbutton to turn the light on and off, right beside a pushbutton to open and close the door. I think the light should also go on automatically when the door is opened by remote. I think (but am not totally certain) the light worked when I moved in a week ago, but it does not work now. The bulb was burned out so I replaced it but it still does not work. When I push the wall switch, I can hear a faint clicking by the light, like it's getting the signal to turn on. Any idea what's wrong?
Answers:
There is a switch inside the unit. The wall switch causes this switch to turn on. This switch has burned out. this is why the old bulb was blown. You'll have to find this switch and see if you can find a replacement. If its an older unit it might be hard to find, try the manufacturer and ebay.
make sure the bulb you took out was really burned out by trying it in another light that you know works. if you have already discarded that bulb the try the same thing with the replacement you have just installed
