Faucet question?
Question:How can you make a Moen bathroom faucet easier to pull out to turn on the water? It seems that it takes quite a bit of effort to pull out the faucet in order to turn it on...
Answers:
I would probably take the cartridge out of the faucet body and coat it with waterproof grease. I would wipe it off with a clean towel first to remove any dirt or mineral buildup. Then apply a thin layer of waterproof grease all over the cartridge. Then reinstall the cartridge and run some water. You probably want to take off the aerator and clean any excess grease or dirt and mineral buildup out of it. If you can't pull the cartridge out, Moen makes a cartridge removal tool. You could try taking off the handle and then reinstalling just the center screw and then use a pliers to GENTLY pull up on the screw. If the cartridge separates you will definitely need to get the tool from moen. It can pull the outer housing out of the faucet. If all this fails get a new cartridge from Moen. Most of their faucets have lifetime guarantees on the cartridges.
Good Luck :)
need to shut off the water and take apart, it shouldnt be hard to do,
All Moen faucets use a cartridge on the interior of the faucet. Replacing the cartridge should solve the problem. Unscrew the knob and exterior trim etc. to gain access to the cartridge.
The Moen website may provide examples etc. of how to do this.
I like the cartridge answer. But has it always been hard to pull or did it gradually get that way?
