The light bulbs in my kitchen burn out too frequently. Is it wired wrong? How can I fix this problem??
Question:
Answers:
Are they in recessed lighting? If so check to make sure there is proper ventilation to vent heat. You may be using bulbs that are too large (wattage), adjust down.
you need a smaller watt bulb for the light fixture
I agree. You most likely have a high wattage bulb not rated for the fixture. If you are putting in a 100w bulb and the fixture requires a max of 75w then it will burn out. If you need the brightness try putting in a compact florescent bulb you get more light for the same watts as a normal bulb
To extend the previous answer ... Incandescent bulbs generate a tremendous of heat and typical kitchen fixtures do not allow for generous dissipation of heat. Using a bulb above the fixture specifications causes excess heat and the bulb fails prematurely.
you could have the wiring checked, you could ask if maybe you're buying old shelf life bulbs, or if too much power is coming into your house. When you call that electrician it's time to get all the wiring fixed in your house and add any outlets where you need them or beef up on your computer. No use calling him back in the future for smaller jobs. Have him also check your fuse box so that if anything in there needs upgraded or changed out that that is taken care of. If you plan for lighting in your garage as well or on your porch, or a plug next to your door for the electric mower, now is the time to get that done..
i agree w the answers on bulb wattage you can also replace your light switch w/ a dimmer switch and lower the setting. this can double the life of your bulbs
