My central Air conditioning unit freezes where the filter is located and turns off...?
Question:does any body have any idea about this apart from calling a repair man?
Thanks for your help.i appreciate it a lot =)

This could be caused by one of several things or any combination of Dirty air filter, Dirty coils, Low freon.
They make a coil cleaner that you can get at Home Depot or Lowes for the evaporator coil and while there get a new filter.
I would try these first and if that does not work call an AC tech.
It sounds like the A/C needs freon...
Good Luck,
You are low on Freon...you need a repair man.
Our unit did that when we had a leak in the A-coil. Ended up having that part replaced, and it worked fine for many years. (It was pretty expensive, so please call around for pricing).
Sounds to me like you have an airflow problem, or a low refrigerant level.
Check to see that the filter is clean, and the coils aren't dirty, and limiting the amount of air that can flow through it. You can usually get a vacuum with a hose attachment, and a crevice tool to suck out most of the dirt. However, if it has been neglected for some time, you may need to have the coils washed in an acid bath. If it is a low refrigerant level, you will need a certified a/c man to add some r-22 to the unit.
Good luck.
if you can get to the coils, and other areas as well, do this. Shut off the main power box to the unit. get a sourse of compressed air, and blow off every thing. Then if you can, reash in there with a long handled soft brush, and knock off as mush dust as you can get at.
Turn main switch back on, and fire the unit up. If your problem still is there, now call your service person.
Could be as simple as a plugged drain hole. Also, is the filter clean? ~
low on Freon. Probably leaking somewhere. have to call a repair man. Hopefully small leak can be patched and refilled with freon.
I would guess airflow is the culprit. the coil is most likely plugged with filth.
