Can I use my old roof antenna with my existing coaxial tv cables?
Question:I have an old home that still has antenna on the roof. The antenna was there before cable wiring was installed in the home. My cable company refuses to repair my cable (long story), so I want to use that old antenna to get a few more stations. It would be great if I could somehow use the existing coaxial cable wiring that is already in the home in conjunction with that old roof antenna. Can this be done?
Answers:
yes,get some 300 ohm twin lead, attach to antenna and run to cable hook up. Get adapter that goes from 300 ohm lead to 75 ohm coax available at radio shack, works good and has good picture. coax is kind of lossy when it comes down to signal from antenna to reciever and twin lead isn't, you just don't ant twin lead near metal which can mess up signal
i'd go to radio shack and just buy some antenna wire and use that. they might have an adapter though, if anybody would. i hate my cable company too. good luck.
yes it can still be use
No, after 12-06 The US does not use UHF antennas (signals).
It is still working at my home.
